Her piercing emerald eyes caught me from across the courtyard. Her red hair was blowing behind her in the breeze, the same breeze that played with her skirt and tank top. The cool, spring day suddenly felt like a scorching summer at noon, the breeze becoming a plume of fire that pricked my skin. I felt myself smile at the sensation; there was something special about this girl. She walked past without noticing, slinking into the library without a sound.

The stars were falling towards them. Bright balls of light plummeted, lighting up their faces and their eyes. Such a sight wasn't seen anymore, not unless you had connections to the rich and powerful, risky connections that could be broken at any moment. Erin, despite her beauty and charm, was thrown from the sky resort when her mother angered another rich housewife. Thomas, her cousin, brought her back for a family night of watching the meteor shower, a rare sight from the surface because of all the ash and pollution.
